The ACD Studies Centre (VRI–ACD) is tasked to research issues pertaining to the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), both as an institution and as a process. The Centre’s effort is to raise awareness and lead discussions on ACD matters.

Founded in 2002 at Thailand’s initiative, the ACD has appeared to be the sole multilateral in Asia to include as members countries from all regions in the continent. All key players in Asian international politics, (e.g., China, India, and Russia) are ACD members. The continent-wide association was aspiringly crafted to serve as a ‘missing link’ synergising and connecting regional institutions in Asia’s regions. Despite its uniqueness, ACD has remained long overlooked by academia and policy circles.
