RESEARCH WING

The VRI Research Wing houses four centres, namely: (a) Strategic Analysis Centre, (b) Rohini Centre for Social Sciences, (c) Varuna Centre for Mekong Studies, and (d) ACD Studies Centre. The Research Wing is home to research staff and affiliates, including overseas fellows, with backgrounds in political science, international relations, public policy, security studies, history, law, and related fields. When researchers join VRI, they also join at least one of our four research centres.

In addition to the four centres in Rohini, India, the Research Wing has an offshore unit in Thailand, called VRI LAB–Bangkok.

With more than 10 years’ experience in academia, Poowin Bunyavejchewin has published no less than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is Director-General and Chief Executive of the VRI while working full-time as a Senior Researcher at Thammasat University in Thailand.

GRANTS

The Vejchewin Research Institute offers funding through its Small Grants Programme and Publication Grants. The purpose of the VRI Small Grants Programme is to provide early and mid-career academic professionals with funds to develop research projects and support scholarly undertakings. The amount of each Small Grant is up to US$ 800. Publication Grants aim to facilitate publication of scholarly work in Scopus- and Web of Science-indexed journals. The amount of a Publication Grant is up to US$ 400. It is expected that 3 to 5 grants will be made each year. The grants are administered by VRI LAB–Bangkok under the supervision of the Headquarters.
