The Varuna Centre for Mekong Studies (VRI–VC) is dedicated to study the domestics politics and foreign relations of five Mekong states (i.e., Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand). Besides the aforementioned topics, the Centre’s research focuses on Mekong multilateralism. The geostrategic dynamics of the region is also studied in the Centre.

Through research, seminars, and publications—undertaken individually or in partnership with other like-minded bodies—the Varuna Centre seeks to provide policy-relevant recommendations on issues and events in the Mekong region. The Centre comprises of a mix of in-house scholars and overseas fellows.
